On Sunday, March 3, 2024, Bike About participated in the ‘Discover, Play, Bikeway!’ event hosted by the Adelaide Hills Council.

Many friend and family groups rode the Amy Gillett Bikeway and enjoyed the sunny weather, music, art, food, and entertainment from Oakbank to Woodside, Charleston, and Mount Torrens. The crowd was entertained by performers, live music, face painting, a petting zoo, story reading at the mobile library, food, coffee, art, crafts, and stalls.

Bike About was based at Woody Trails, Station Road, Woodside, where people hired bikes and cycled 17 km along the bikeway, which follows a section of the former Mount Pleasant railway line.

The trail opened in 2016, is named in honour of Australian track cyclist and rower Amy Gillett, who grew up in Adelaide and was killed in an accident whilst training in Germany in July 2005.

The Amy Gillet shared path forms part of the Bike About 7-Day South Australia Food & Wine E-Bike Tour.
