Before travelling to the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football tournament, Charli Grant and her partner, Lachie, rode with Bike About through the Adelaide Hills.

Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Charlotte “Charli” Grant is an emerging Australian soccer talent known for her dynamic playing style as a Matildas and Tottenham Hotspur defender. Grant’s football journey began at a young age when she played for local Adelaide clubs. Her talent was evident, and she joined the National Training Centre program in South Australia from 2014 to 2018, which focuses on developing skills for players with national team potential.
Grant’s football career took off when she signed with Adelaide United in October 2018 at 17. In the 2020-21 season, she helped elevate Adelaide to its fifth-place finish, missing the finals only on goal difference. Her performances caught the attention of overseas clubs, leading to her move to Sweden.
In April 2021, Grant joined FC Rosengård in the Swedish Damallsvenskan, contributing to the team’s success, including winning the Swedish Women’s Cup. However, seeking more game time, she moved on loan to Vittsjö GIK in August 2022, where she continued to develop her skills and gain valuable experience. Charli’s time in Sweden solidified her reputation as a capable full-back, known for her pace and attacking contributions.

Grant debuted for the Matildas on September 21, 2021, against the Republic of Ireland. She has since become an integral part of the national team, participating in major tournaments such as the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Notably, she scored her first international goal in a 2-0 victory over England in April 2023, marking her a key player for the Matildas.
In January 2024, Grant signed with Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League, marking a new chapter in her career.
